Our process:
We started by studying digital scans and images of the original Lewis Chessman Set featured in the original Age of Empires 2 intro cutscene. Once we had all the pieces modeled, we then carefully 3D printed each piece using a high-quality filament. After sanding, carving, and smoothing the 3D prints to get them looking perfect, we made silicone molds of the 3D models. These molds were filled with epoxy resin and left to cure for 3-4 days. Once cured, each newly made piece was removed and meticulously hand-sanded and polished to a perfect shine. These pieces were then used to make a second set of molds. Once these molds cured, they are the ones we use for the FINAL pieces. Even though the chessman that come out of these molds are in really nice shape, Chuptaburger STILL does a final hand-sanding and polishing to each piece, once again to ensure quality. Chupta don’t play.
If you read this far, maybe you’re willing to read a bit more… I want to give a quick shoutout to all the people in the AoE2 community that have supported me and my students as we work to navigate the challenges our public school faces. Thanks to you guys, I’ve been able to keep grinding and get this thing done. If we don’t sell a single set, I won’t care- the process of doing this, of teaching these students how to do this- that’s reward enough for me.
<3 xoxo Chupta
